This is such a tasteful brooch and so ultra feminine. This set confused me a little because of the difference between the brooch back and earring backs. Judging by the look of the earrings from the back I would date this an earlier set. The brooch back leads me to believe it is a later piece than that of the earrings. The only difference I can see is that the cap of the pink beads are a bit different than those on the brooch and the earrings have greens beads where the brooch does not. No matter what, this is a lovely Regency Jewels Demi.. Judge for yourself. This would be perfect for so many outfits and occasions, but I can see this as the perfect adornment to a lovely Easter outfit. ID-178

I probably own more Regency vintage jewelry than any other. Personally it is one of my favorites. My absolute favorite set by Regency uses the Teal Blue And Teal Green, which I've never seen duplicated—unmistakably Regency! You will see many designs by Weiss and Regency which are difficult to tell apart if they are not signed. Both excellent quality. I think in some cases Regency does a nice job holding its own even next to a designer like Schreiner. They both thought outside the box when it came to color combinations and certain designs are unmistakably Regency. To name a few easily spotted designs by Regency, look for: the use of colorful art glass; hanging swirled opaque and translucent tear drop design—stones with a mirrored aurora borealis finish—huge, seemingly bottomless, dome shaped cabochons—mabe pearl designs mixed with rhinestones that shine like diamonds. The metal types which Regency used were gold tone, silver tone, japanned, and gun metal. If you love Schreiner, but can't afford it, take a look at Regency. The quality in many cases is just as nice as Weiss and Schreiner, in my opinion, and you will find that pricing for this exceptional vintage jewelry is definitely reasonable.

Regency Jewelry History —

Regency was made from the 1950s to the 1970s by Regina Novelty Company which was based in New York City and owned by the Polowitz family. The jewelry produced was known for spectacular color hues, high quality designs, superior materials and fine workmanship. Usually in an oval cartouche pieces were marked 'REGENCY', sometimes with a copyright mark and earlier pieces with 'Regency Jewels'. It was sold directly to department stores in New York, Chicago and other large cities. Salesmen would take their 'chain samples' to the store buyers so that they could choose future inventory stock items. I sold a salesman's chain sample a couple of years ago. They were about 6 inches long and could easily be mistaken for the elaborate bracelets Regency is well known for. The company closed its doors in the 1970s. Regency is highly collectible in today's costume jewelry market. Quality pieces are not rare, but not abundant on the market.
